Enterprising innings from allrounder Marcus Stoinis drove Lucknow Super Giants to a rather hard-fought victory over Mumbai Indians on Tuesday at Ekana Sports City, Lucknow. Marcus Stones fought his way through MI bowlers to score a much-required knock of 45-ball 62, dragging LSG to a crucial win with four balls to spare.

Chasing 144, LSG didn’t have the luxury of Quinton de Kock, with KL Rahul opening the batting alongside Arshin Kulkarni. Rahul made well-judged 28, setting the team off to positive start. However, Kulkarni lost his wicket for first-ball duck, putting LSG in a challenging situation. Stoinis, carrying a rich form, muscled 62, cracking seven fours and two sixes, bringing the team back into the game.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians, inserted to bat, registered a frightful start after Rohit Sharma was caught on four. And in a flurry of wickets, MI went on to lose Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya in quick succession. However, Nehal Wadhera and Tim David steadied the innings, smashing 46 and 35* respectively, thus lifting Mumbai Indias to a valuable score of 144/7 in 20.
