Sri Lanka unveil World Cup squad, Hasaranga to lead

Sri Lanka have unveiled their squad for the upcoming T20I World Cup 2024, with allrounder Wanindu Hasaranga set to lead the 15-member squad. Young allrounder Dunith Wellalage has made the cut into the squad that involves the whole host of experienced campaigners. Wellalage has never played any T20Is, but his exceptional skills have earned him a spot in Sri Lanka’s squad.
One of the most experienced campaigners Angelo Mathews, Dhananjaya de Silva, Kusal Mendis and Dasun Shanaka have been included in the squad. Competitive players like Maheesh Theekshana, Dunith Wellalage, Dushmantha Chameera, Matheesha Pathirana and Dilshan Madushanka have all made the cut. Sri Lankan skipper Wanindu Hasaranga recently missed the ongoing Indian Premier League due to a long-standing heel injury, but he is gradually making his return to action.
