England handed a massive blow ahead of Test summer

Ahead of the start of their Test summer, England’s bowling lineup has copped a major blow, with pacer Josh Tongue scheduled to be sidelined for most part of the Test summer. Josh Tongue has suffered a setback with his pestrol injury and his participation remains a major concern for England.

Josh Tongue made his Test debut last year, but he has not featured for England since August last year, missing England’s white-ball series against West Indies and a five-match Test series against India.

"Josh has had a setback to his original injury. There is no timescale on when he'll return to action," England Cricket Board said in a statement.

It is also a significant blow for England considering James Anderson’s announcement to retire from international cricket this summer. Tongue is being seen as a fitting successor to James Anderson in England’s pace bowling attack. Tongue made his England debut in June last year against Ireland. He has claimed 10 wickets in two matches.
