England recorded a 23-run victory over Pakistan in the second T20I on Saturday at Edgbaston, showcasing their skills both with the bat and ball to take 1-0 lead in the four-match series. England’s pace sensation Jofra Archer made a scintillating comeback to action, bagging two scalps for (24) runs from his four overs.

Put into bat, England's innings was spearheaded by a masterful knock from their skipper Jos Buttler, charging with his 84-run innings and providing a solid start. Buttler blasted eight boundaries and three sixes in his gutsy knock. In the middle order, in-form batter Will Jacks, playing with the same rhythm as Buttler, contributed a crucial (37) runs off (23) balls, propelling England to a competitive total of 183/7 in (20) overs.

Pakistan's bowlers faced an onslaught from the English batsmen, with Shadab Khan being incredibly expensive giving away (55) runs from his four overs. Shaheen Afridi was impactful, claiming three wickets from his four overs after giving away (36) runs. Imad Wasim and Haris Rauf too chipped in with two wickets each.

Chasing (184), Pakistan were off to a disastrous start, with Mohammad Rizwan and Saim Ayub being dismissed early. Babar Azam (32) and Fakhar Zaman (45) brought a much-needed stability, anchoring the innings with their resilient innings. But wickets kept falling at regular intervals, hampering the momentum needed for a successful chase. However, Imad Wasim and Iftikhar Ahmed put some life into the chase, scoring (22) and (23) respectively but that couldn’t be enough as they lost all of their wickets for (160) in (19.2) overs.
