“This is probably the most prepared I've been”: Young Cameron Green ahead of Australia’s WC campaign

Young allrounder Cameron Green has been a tremendous performer for Australia, having been living up to the expectations with both bat and ball and performing at whichever position he has been required to perform. As Australia prepare to begin their T20I World Cup campaign, Cameron Green is also prepared to play his part in team’s success. Cameron Green had a productive run at the IPL with Royal Challengers Bengaluru where he played at different positions and finished the tournament with utmost confidence. With T20I World Cup 2024 being held in Caribbean and USA, Cameron Green could be required to play at different positions for which he is the most prepared.

“I think that's the beauty of what I've been exposed to in the last few years, I think there's never been a really consistent spot to really lock in but at the same time I'm pretty thankful for that. I Feel like I can jump in at many different roles, I think that's where I see myself this tournament, maybe plugging holes in the team. It's a pretty good team to get into. Wherever I get told I'm playing I think I've got a bit of confidence and an idea of where to bat anyway,” Green told reporters.

"I think It's pretty different when you bat up at the top of the [order], two fielders out at the start, you can play pretty proper cricket. Maybe took me a while to really work out how to go about it [in the middle order]. You can still give yourself 10 balls to kind of get yourself in, where sometimes when you are inexperienced it doesn't feel like you have 10 balls."

Cameron, however, remains uncertain to feature in Australia’s XI initially but he is quite prepared for the challenge, having got enough exposure to T20 cricket at the IPL. Australia are having Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell and Tim David in the middle-order and their top order consists of David Warner, Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh. Still, Cameron Green is expected to play his role if conditions demand him. RCB used Cameron Green at different batting slots in their IPL campaign and Green repaid the faith while prospering and gaining success.

"I've definitely noticed, this is probably the most prepared I've been for some sort of tour. You always move from a Test tour into a T20, a T20 into a Test tour so it's pretty extreme but that's the beauty of the IPL this year is you actually got some unbelievable practice leading into this," he said.
