Akeal Hosein punctures Uganda to hand West Indies a massive win
Akeal Hosein made huge gains, returning with his best-ever T20I figures of 5-11 from four overs as West Indies dismissed Uganda for 39 in 12 overs to cruise to a bragging 134-run victory on Sunday at Providence Stadium, Guyana. West Indies strangled Uganda, with their bowlers leading the charge.
After West Indies skipper Rovman Powell decided to bat, Johnson Charles pummeled (44) to make full use of the powerplay. Nicholas Pooran smacked three sixes in his rapid-fire (22). While, Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford scored (23) and (22) respectively to keep up with the scoring rate. Down the order, dangerous Andre Russell plundered (30 off 17), hitting six boundaries and taking the side to a powerful total of 173/5 in (20).
Uganda’s chase got off on a shaky note, going five down in the powerplay itself as their entire top order failed to record double-digit score. Akeal Hosein was the pick of the bowler as he led the charge to squeeze Uganda’s top-order. With the mammoth result, West Indies remain on top in the tournament.
