Trent Boult confirms his absence at the next edition of T20I World Cup

New Zealand recorded their maiden victory at the ongoing T20I World Cup after defeating Uganda in Trinidad on Saturday. New Zealand, who have already been knocked out of the tournament, recorded a victory that put an end to their disappointing start in the tournament. New Zealand rolled Uganda for the third-lowest total in the history of T20I World Cup to secure a nine-wicket win. After asking Uganda to bat, New Zealand folded them for 40 in 18.4 overs.
Tim Southee, Trent Boult returned with three and two wickets each, followed by spinners Mitchell Santner and Rachin Ravindra claiming two wickets apiece. New Zealand, in their chase, needed only 5.2 overs to secure a mammoth win. Devon Conway scored 22 unbeaten to take his team over the line. After the win against Uganda, New Zealand speedster Trent Boult confirmed that this will be his last T20I World Cup as he will not be making his comeback to play the next edition of the tournament.
“Speaking on behalf of myself, this will be my last T20 World Cup,” he stated. “That’s all I’m going to say.”
New Zealand lost all of their hopes of making it to the Super Eight stage after suffering initial setbacks in the first two games in the tournament. Their opening match against Afghanistan was a massive frustration after being rolled for 58. Their second defeat came against West Indies.
