David Warner’s international retirement doesn’t have the fairytale ending

Australia's most distinguished cricketer David Warner’s retirement from international cricket was confirmed following Australia's early exit from the T20I World Cup. Warner's illustrious career came to an end on a somber note as Australia were unable to secure a spot in the semi-final after slumping to a 24-run defeat against India on Monday.
After being blown away by India, Australia were relying on the outcome in the Afghanistan and Bangladesh clash but that didn’t go their way either after Afghanistan outplayed Bangladesh to secure their maiden semi-final spot at the T20I World Cup.
However, Warner’s illustrious career has been synonymous with indefatigable efforts and enormous success. Throughout his career, Warner has been known for his aggressive batting style and exceptional fielding. Warner’s retirement from all three formats has come in stages.
Warner made his last appearance in ODIs at the ODI World Cup 2023 in India in November and played his final Test match in January earlier this year against Pakistan. Warner, in 110 T20 games, has amassed 3277 runs, involving one century and 28 half-centuries. In ODIs, Warner is the sixth-highest run-scorer for Australia, having amassed 6932 runs from his 161 matches. He has 22 centuries. Speaking on Warner's retirement, Australian quick Josh Hazlewood said it's always different when a player departs.
"We've had a little taste of it. It's sort of been a slow burn with Test cricket and ODI cricket, and now T20. Life without him, we've sort of gotten used to it a little bit in New Zealand. It's always different when you lose a player that's been there for so long. But we'll move on and push forward," Hazlewood said during the press conference.
