BBCI announces Rs 125 crore monetary award for team India after T20I World Cup triumph
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a gigantic monetary award of INR 125 crore for India’s T20I World Cup winning squad following their triumph at the recently concluded T20I World Cup 2024. The decision comes just a day after team India lifted the T20I World Cup title, demolishing South Africa in the final. BCCI secretary Jay Shah took to ‘X’ to announce the decision.
“I am pleased to announce prize money of INR 125 Crores for Team India for winning the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. The team has showcased exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this outstanding achievement!".
The ICC had also announced the prize money of USD 2.45 million for the team winning the T20I World Cup. This is the highest cash prize awarded by the ICC in the history of T20I World Cup. As the winning team, India will be receiving the $2.45 million along with the additional bonuses.
