Ishan Kishan talks about his absence

In February earlier this year, young Indian batter Ishan Kishan made headlines after Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) dropped him from its central contract list. Itâs been long since Ishan Kishan last played for India. Last year, Kishan was named in Indiaâs squad for South Africa but he made himself unavailable citing personal reasons and remained away from action for few months.
Opening up about his absence, Kishan noted that being benched over and again became tremendously hard for him to deal with, therefore he decided to make himself unavailable. And, only his family and close friends could understand the situation he was in. Meanwhile, BCCI also made it mandatory for players to play in domestic cricket in order to make their comeback to national team.
"I was scoring runs and then I found myself on the bench. These things do happen in a team sport. However, I experienced travel fatigue. It meant there was something wrong, I was not feeling well or right and so I decided to take a break. However, sadly, barring my family and few close people no one understood that," Kishan told The Indian Express.
â[The past few months] were depressing. Today I donât want to say that everything was fine. It was not easy for me at all. You go through a lot. Mere dimag mey ye sab chalta raha ki yaar kya hoga gaya, kyu ho gaya, mere saath kyu (Questions like what happened, why me). All these things happened when I was performing,â he added.
