“Today I played with Shubman Gill’s bat”: Abhishek Sharma

Red-hot young Indian opener Abhishek Sharma struck his maiden T20I ton in India’s second T20I match against Zimbabwe in Harare on Sunday. Making his second T20I appearance for India, Abhishek hammered a 46-ball ton, reaffirming his status as a young power-hitter. Abhishek made it to team India on the back of a series of astonishing innings in the IPL 2024. Repaying the faith, Sharma successfully replicated his IPL form into T20Is. He failed to announce himself in the first game, which was also his debut match, but he made his thunderous comeback in the second game.
"My approach is always very much similar to this because if I feel it, even if it's the first ball, I'm going to go for it and I usually go for it. And when it's my day, it usually goes like this. And if it's not, I don't mind because I practice a lot over this, mindset and this game I'm having right now," Abhishek said in the post-match press conference.
Abhishek also revealed that he batted with skipper Shubman Gill’s bat in the second T20I.
"Today I played with his (Shubman Gill) bat. It went really well,” Abhishek said.
"So a special thanks to the bat as well. And this happens, I think, from the under-12 days. Whenever I think like, this is a pressure game or this is, you know, a match where I should perform, I usually take his bat. Even in the IPL also, I usually ask for one bat. And today he gave me his bat. So I think it went really well," added Abhishek.
