The eighth match of the Women’s T20I Asia Cup will witness the clash between Bangladesh Women and Thailand Women on Monday at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Dambulla. Bangladesh Women are yet to open their winning account, while Thailand Women thumped Malaysia Women by 22 runs in their opening match.

Bangladesh Women suffered a seven-wicket defeat against Sri Lanka Women. For Bangladesh Women, a victory is desperately needed to provide a much-needed life to their crippling campaign. In the points table in group B, Bangladesh Women are positioned third in the points table with no point and a negative NRR of -1.091.

Bangladesh’s top-order will need to step up to help the side, having failed in their last game against Sri Lanka Women. Skipper Nigar Sultana was the top-scorer for the team with her 48 runs, but that was not enough to save the team from a big defeat.

For Thailand Women, they have the momentum going into this match and will be hopeful of maintaining this momentum to down Bangladesh to their second straight defeat in the tournament. Nannapat Koncharoenkai and  Phannita Maya will be crucial for the team in its success.

Bangladesh Women probable XI: Dilara Akter, Ishma Tanjim, Rubya Haider, Nigar Sultana (c&wk), Ritu Moni, Shorna Akter, Rabeya Khan, Shorifa Khatun, Nahida Akter, Marufa Akter, Sultana Khatun
