SL vs IND 3rd T20I: India eye series sweep as Sri Lanka aim for change in tempo

News

India are poised to face Sri Lanka on Tuesday in the third and final match of the ongoing T20I series at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele. Having already secured a 2-0 lead, India will be aiming for a clean sweep, while Sri Lanka will be determined to reclaim some pride and avoid a whitewash.

India’s performance in the series has been commanding, winning first and second games by huge margins. In the first T20I, India showcased a balanced display of batting and bowling, securing a comfortable 43-run victory. And, in the second game as well, India came out with the same intent, overpowering Sri Lanka once again to win the game by seven wickets (DLS).

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have had a tough time finding their rhythm. Despite having a strong squad, they have been unable to put up a cohesive performance to challenge India effectively. The likes of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis have shown some intent but have lacked the support needed to put down India.

For Sri Lanka, the final game will present an opportunity to restore some pride and end the series on a positive note. A victory for Sri Lanka here would prevent a whitewash and will also help Sri Lanka boost their morale.

India Probable XI: Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav (c), Sanju Samson (wk), Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Riyan Parag, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Siraj, Khaleel Ahmed

Sri Lanka Probable XI: Kusal Mendis (wk), Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Perera, Dinesh Chandimal, Charith Asalanka (c), Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, Dilshan Madhushanka, Matheesha Pathirana, Asitha Fernando
