Sri Lanka have named an 18-player squad for the upcoming three-match Test series against England, scheduled to be played later this month. Spinner Jeffrey Vandersay has made the cut into the squad following his noteworthy performance in the ongoing three-match ODI series against India.

In the second ODI, Vandersay claimed six wickets, engineering India’s middle-order collapse to help Sri Lanka take 1-0 lead in the series. Vandersay was last seen for Sri Lanka in a Test match in 2022 against Australia. Sri Lanka will be playing under the captaincy of Dhananjaya De Silva, with Kusal Mendis serving as his deputy.

Uncapped players Milan Rathnayake and Nisala Tharaka have been named into the squad. Sri Lanka’s first Test match against England begins on August 21 in Manchester. The second Test will be played from August 29 at Lord’s. And the third and final match will be played at the Oval from September 6.

Sri Lanka Squad: Dhananjaya De Silva (c), Dimuth Karunaratne, Nishan Madushka, Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis (vc), Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Kamindu Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Asitha Fernando, Vishwa Fernando, Kasun Rajitha, Lahiru Kumara, Nisala Tharaka, Prabath Jayasuriya, Ramesh Mendis, Jeffrey Vandersay, Milan Rathnayake
