“We played junior cricket together”: Former Indian cricketer on camaraderie with Virat Kohli

Former Indian cricketer Piyush Chawla has expressed a strong sense of camaraderie with batting superstar Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli and Piyush Chawla have played together for more than 10 years as their healthy relationship dates back to their childhood days. Chawla asserted that Virat Kohli hasn’t changed as a person at all.
Last month, former Indian cricketer Amit Mishra stirred up a debate with his remarks on Virat Kohli. Mishra, who drew sharp criticism for his comments, had said that Kohli’s demeanour had changed after assuming India’s captaincy. But, Chawla’s remarks contrasted with what Mishra had said.
"Virat, whatever I have played with him, whenever I have met him, it has been a very good experience for me. We played junior cricket together. And after that, we played in the IPL. We also played together for India, things were very good with me. Everyone has their own way of thinking. So, whatever interaction we've had, we still get along very well,” Piyush Chawla said on the 2 Sloggers Podcast.
Chawla also talked about his meeting with Virat Kohli during the Asia Cup 2023 where both of them shared gleeful moments talking about food.
“In fact, when I was doing commentary during the Asia Cup 2023 and I was standing on the boundary, and Virat was fielding there, he came to me and said, ‘PC, let's order something good.' Because we were both fond of eating. So, even today, there are similar discussions that used to happen 10-15 years ago. It has been a very good experience with me.”
