“I feel bad for Sarfaraz Khan”: Former Indian cricketer’s remarks on Sarfaraz Khan following KL Rahul’s return

Former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth has backed KL Rahul to play at No.5 position in the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, starting on September 19. Earlier this year, after playing the first Test match against England, KL Rahul had been ruled out for the remainder of the series due to an injury.

In place of KL Rahul, India had called up Sarfaraz Khan, who played at No.5 position. Sarfaraz Khan, though, was up to the task during England Tests, scoring 200 runs at an average of 50. Putting KL Rahul's experience on top, Srikkanth has voiced his preference for KL Rahul over Sarfaraz Khan.

''Honestly, I feel bad for Sarfaraz Khan. But, this happens, at times, in Test cricket. You would have been playing well but when a big player returns, you will have to lose your place. Take for instance, Rishabh Pant is returning because of which Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan are losing their places. KL Rahul is coming in," he said on his YouTube channel.

Srikkanth also brought up the upcoming Test series against Australia, underscoring KL Rahul’s success in overseas conditions. Meanwhile, this will be team India’s first Test series under new head coach Gautam Gambhir

"At the back of the mind, they are also keeping the Australia series. New Zealand are also coming. KL Rahul has performed well overseas, in Australia he has done well," Srikkanth told.
