Afghanistan’s remarkably talented Rashid Khan emerged as a vital figure in Afghanistan’s historic series victory over South Africa on Friday at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. His exceptional performance in the second ODI, not only secured a remarkable 2-0 lead in the three-match series but also showcased his determination to play through adversity.

Afghanistan’s series win over South marked one of the most significant milestones in their cricketing history. Afghanistan managed to clinch two consecutive wins to create history. Rashid Khan, who has been a stalwart for Afghanistan, played a crucial role.

In the second ODI, Rashid’s contribution with the ball was nothing short of phenomenal. He took five wickets while leaking only 19 runs in his 9 overs. His spell helped Afghanistan bowl out South Africa for 134 in their pursuit of 311. What makes Rashid’s achievements even more commendable is the fact that he did so while battling a hamstring injury.

“Fifer after long time and I had a hamstring injury as well since a month, but I wanted to stay in the ground and help the team. It was a big opportunity for us to win an important series, so I wanted to contribute. I enjoy bowling with youngsters, I share my ideas with them and the best part is they listen and learn quickly. And now they have started to deliver. Great to see youngsters coming up and showcasing their talent. (On playing with a hamstring injury) We had a big opportunity to win a series and the love for the game pushes you to play, I thought I was able to bowl and stay on the field, good job done by the physio as well” said Rashid in post match conference.
