Shami gives big update on his comeback

India’s premier fast bowler Mohammed Shami has provided a positive update regarding his comeback ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia next month. Shami has confirmed that he is now pain-free and remains a strong contender for selection in the upcoming high-profile Border-Gavaskar series against Australia.
Shami was not selected for India’s ongoing three-match Test series against New Zealand which had cast doubt on his participation in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, particularly given the significance of the BGT. However, Shami was seen bowling during a net session after India’s first Test against New Zealand on Sunday. Shami was not picked for the ongoing Test series against New Zealand due to swelling in his left knee.
"I am very happy with how I bowled yesterday. I was bowling from half run-up before that because I didn't want to take too much load. But yesterday, I decided to go full tilt, and I bowled at a 100 per cent. The result was good. I am 100 per cent pain-free. Everyone has been wondering for a long time about whether I will make it for the Australia series but it is still some time away," Shami said while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event by Eugenix Hair Sciences.
Meanwhile, he has been out of team India since the ODI World Cup last year due to an ankle injury, for which he also underwent surgery and subsequent rehabilitation.
