AUS vs PAK 1st T20I: Crushing victory for Australia in rain-shortened contest
Pakistan were handed a crushing 29-run defeat In the first T20I by Australia on Thursday at The Gabba, with batters and bowlers churning out blistering performances. The first T20I of the three, which was initially set for a full-length game, was reduced to just seven overs per side due to persistent rain.
After being put to bat, Australia put up a competitive total of 94 runs in their allotted seven overs, with Glenn Maxwell being the highest scorer with 43 off 19. His sizzling knock included five fours and three sixes. Despite the shortened format, Australian batting lineup capitalised on the conditions as Marcus Stoinis, down the order, hammered 21 off 7 to guide the side to a challenging total.
In response, Pakistan batters struggled to gain momentum from the very start. Pakistan were restricted to a mere 64/9 in seven overs, falling well short of the required total. Australia's bowlers in the form of Xavier Bartlett and Nathan Ellis executed their plans effectively, claiming three wickets each to dismantle Pakistan. On the other hand, Pakistan could not recover from early setbacks, resulting in a comprehensive 29-run defeat.
