Calf issue puts Hazlewood in doubt
Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood suffered calf soreness on Day 4 of the ongoing third Test against India at the Gabba in Brisbane. Hazlewood, who was recalled for the third Test, was taken out of action and sent for scans. It is a crushing blow to Australia's bowling attack as Hazlewood remains in doubt to bowl again in this innings. Before leaving the field, he could manage to produce one over on day four.
Hazlewood was on the sidelines for the second Test due to a side injury but was declared fit to play in the third Test. On day three, Hazlewood bowled comfortably, claiming the wicket of Virat Kohli. Meanwhile, the third Test has been witnessing rain interruptions.
Hazlewood had replaced Scott Boland to participate in the third Test, While, Boland was played in the second Test to replace Hazlewood. The injury came to light during the day four, with Hazlewood bowling well but noticeably slowing down. For now, Australia will await the results of the scans to determine Hazlewood's immediate playing future.
