In a monumental achievement, Pakistan completed a historic 3-0 series sweep over South Africa after thrashing proteas by 36 runs through DLS in the third and final ODI on Sunday at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg. With the victory, Pakistan became the first team in cricket history to whitewash South Africa in a bilateral ODI series on South African soil, an accomplishment that speaks volumes about Pakistan's strength.

In the third ODI, Pakistan put on an outstanding display of skill to finish the series in style. Asked to bat, Pakistan put on a commanding total of 309/9 in 47 overs. The stars of the show in Pakistan's batting department were Saim Ayub, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, all three of them played scintillating knocks of (101), (52) and (53) respectively. The match had been reduced to 47 overs due to rain.

South Africa, meanwhile chasing the target, quickly found themselves in utter trouble after their top-class batters fell apart against Pakistan’s disciplined bowling attack. Sufiyan Muqeem took four wickets while Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah claimed two wickets each to bowl South Africa out for 271 in 42 overs.

For South Africa, the series was a disappointing show, with the team failing to produce their usual dominance. South Africa struggled with both bat and ball, and despite individual efforts from players like Heinrich Klaasen and Rassie van der Dussen, South Africa were unable to mount a serious challenge against Pakistan. The win holds huge significance for Pakistan as they prepare for ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
