The ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia has provided a eye-catching contest, but it has also raised several questions regarding the form of two of India's stalwarts, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Both players, who have played their massive roles in India's success over the years, are currently struggling to score runs in the ongoing Test series, raising doubts about their future in Test cricket.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are one of the greatest modern-day Test batsmen, having established themselves as a run machine with fruitful careers. In the ongoing fourth Test, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli scored (3) and (36) in the first innings and they failed to get going in the second innings as well, scoring (9) and (5) respectively. Giving his take on their future, former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri felt that Virat could play for few more years while about Rohit Sharma, Shastri feels that the call has to be taken by the skipper.

"No, I think Virat Kohli will play. Virat will play for sometime, forget the way he got out today. I think he will play for 3 or 4 more years. As far as Rohit is concerned, it’s call. At the top of the order, his footwork isn’t the same. He is probably, at times, a little late in meeting the ball. So it’s his call at the end of the series," Shastri said on Star Sports.

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been far from their best, struggling to score runs in the series. Their usually impeccable techniques have been exposed by Australian bowlers, finding it difficult to navigate the Australian attack.
