KL Rahul asks for break from England series: Reports
Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul is likely to miss the upcoming white-ball series against England, starting on January 22. The series against England is very much crucial considering the ICC Champions Trophy after it. India will play five T20Is and three ODIs against England. And, this series will be key for the team in their preparations for the Champions Trophy.
However, KL Rahul will be available for selection for the Champions Trophy. India will play all of their Champions Trophy matches in Dubai, while all other matches will be held in host nation Pakistan. As per reports, KL Rahul has asked for a break from the upcoming T20I and ODI series against England.
"He has sought a break for the England series but he will be available for selection for Champions Trophy," a BCCI source told PTI on Thursday.
KL Rahul did fairly well in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as he was among the few batters who got the runs. He plundered 276 runs in 10 innings at an average of 30.66. As far as his white-ball career is considered, KL Rahul is set to face a stiff competition due to the return of Rishabh Pant. Earlier, KL Rahul had also asked for a break from Karnataka's matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Champions Trophy, on the other hand, will begin from February 19 and India will kick off their campaign by facing Bangladesh on February 20.
