Mohammed Shami talks about his comeback

Indian veteran pacer Mohammed Shami will be seen in action for the first time - after a year-long absence due to injury setbacks - when India take on England in the first T20I on Wednesday at Eden Gardens. Shami will be making his first international appearance since last playing for India at the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Shami was put on the sidelines due to injury issues, but his return is a big boost to India’s bowling armoury. Talking about his return, Shami stated that it is really challenging for a player to get inured when in full form and then go through rehabilitation.
“I waited for an entire year and I worked very hard. There was a sense of fear even while running about what will happen or what will not happen. It’s very difficult for any player to get injured while being in full flow. Then go to the NCA for rehabilitation and make a comeback. When you go through injuries, I feel you grow stronger as an athlete. Because you have to repeat a lot of things while being mentally strong,” Shami said on BCCI tv in an interview.
"When we are young, our parents teach us how to walk - we fall, we rise - but we never give up learning how to walk - we should never give up that Hunger - even if we fail, we have to get up & walk again - same applies to Sports - if you get injured, you have to make a comeback for your team and country," he said.
Shami had an outstanding ODI World Cup, coming out as the highest wicket-taker with 24 wickets. But, an ankle injury, which required surgery, hammered his momentum. Recently, following his inclusion into India’s T20I squad for England series, Shami was also named into India’s squad for England ODIs and Champions Trophy.
