India’s rising star Abhishek Sharma, who rose to the occasion with his spectacular 135-run knock in India’s fifth and final T20I against England at Wankhede  on Sunday, showed a great courage and a fearless approach. Demonstrating his high-class batting, Abhishek Sharma unleashed a brutal assault on England bowlers, pounding them all over the ground to carry India to their fourth-highest T20I total (247). Following Abhishek’s batting blitz, India thrashed England by 150 runs to win the series 4-1. Speaking on his knock, Sharma highlighted how skipper Suryakumar Yadav’s advice helped him reach the triple figure.

"I was in a zone where I was going to react to the ball. I didn't even know my score. That was the the time I just asked Surya Surya paaji (Suryakumar Yadav) ‘what do you think?'. He said 'since a wicket has fallen you can take your time, take a couple of balls.' That really helped me, because of him only I would say the hundred happened and my highest score happened. But, I didn't realise I was going to hit the fastest hundred," Abhishek Sharma said during the post-match press conference.

Abhishek Sharma also praised former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh for playing a pivotal role in his career.

“Yuvi Paaji (Yuvraj Singh) was the one who put all these things in my mind three-four years back. He was the one who believed in me, I would say. Obviously, when someone like Yuvraj Singh is telling you that you are going to play for the country and you’re going to win the matches. You obviously yourself try to think all these things that okay ‘I will play for India and I will do my best'," he said.

“He has played a major role in my cricketing year. As I’ve told before also, it’s all because of him because the way he has treated me in the past and every innings. He’s someone who’s always there for me, I always talk to him after every game. He’s the one guy I’ve always listened to and I think he knows better than me so I believe that,” he added.
