New Zealand all-rounder Lockie Ferguson has come under injury cloud and remains in doubt for the Pakistan Tri-Series and upcoming Champions Trophy. Ferguson hurt his hamstring while playing in the UAE’s ILT20. He walked off the field during the first Qualifier between Dessert Vipers and Dubai Capitals without even completing his stipulated four overs.
New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said that Ferguson underwent scans on Thursday and the extent of the injury is yet to be known. Further details are still awaited and a call on his availability will be taken following the reports.
"Lockie had a scan yesterday [Thursday] in the UAE. We've got the images here and [we are] waiting for our radiologist to give us a report on the extent of it. Small hamstring injury, by the look of it, so we're just waiting on a timeline of advice around that before we make a decision on whether Lockie travels here [Pakistan] or whether we do have to replace him for the Champions Trophy,” Stead said on the eve of the tri-series opener.
