IND vs ENG ODIs: Former Indian batting coach wants India not to tinker with current playing XI
Former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar has advised India against making any changes to their playing XI for the third and final ODI against England. Bangar feels that India should continue with the same team that took on England in the second game, which was won by India by four wickets.
Bangar is of the opinion that India should refrain from tinkering with the current line-up in order to maintain consistency. India secured a striking four-wicket win in the second ODI to seal the series win. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma stole the show with an eye-catching 119-run knock, involving 12 boundaries and 7 sixes as he made his resounding return to form.
With India having secured the three-match series 2-0, the third and final ODI will serve as a dead rubber, allowing India to experiment by bringing in the likes of Rishabh Pant and Arshdeep Singh. But, Sanjay Bangar has warned India against making any changes.
“I don't think Yashasvi Jaiswal needs to play. If there's merit, you can play Arshdeep Singh or Rishabh Pant, but with only one match left, it might be better to continue with the current XI. KL Rahul has not had many chances to bat long, and his keeping has been solid. It's important to trust him,” Sanjay Bangar said on Jio Cinema.
“Arshdeep might just be played because Mohammad Shami has not had the similar sharpness with his bowling…I would want to see the same team, which has played so well so far, for another match,” he said.
The third and final ODI between India and England will be held on Wednesday in Ahmedabad.
