“Can make a difference”: Former New Zealand star’s massive statement on MS Dhoni

While CSK lost their match against Punjab on Tuesday, MS Dhoni’s extraordinary cameo, racking up 27 off 12, was a show to behold. Dhoni came to bat at no.5 and brought back the hopes for CSK’s win with his power-hitting abilities. Dhoni’s fireworks included three sixes and a four, but with his departure, CSK’s hopes for a much-needed win also diminished. CSK at times threatened to take the game away but finally finished at 201/5 in 20 overs. Following MS Dhoni’s fiery innings, former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull stressed that Dhoni should continue batting higher in the order.

"Dhoni had three sixes in 12 balls. The rest of the team had five in total. So that tells you he's still got the ability and power to hit those sixes. That's why we have been talking about getting him up in the order. Because 27 off 12 balls, when they are 2 down or one down, actually can make a difference. It's not his fault," Doull said on Cricbuzz.

There was another interesting development in CSK’s chase when Devon Conway was retired out despite being the top run-getter for the side. He clubbed 69 off 49 before retiring out.

"Retiring Conway was an interesting decision. He had the pace of the pitch but his strike rate was too low. In a game where you've got a strike rate of 190 to win, he was scoring at 140. But he was retired out too late, too late to give to Jadeja any time to assess," said Doull.
