After suffering four consecutive defeats, Chennai Super Kings are gearing up to host Kolkata Knight Riders in the 25th match of the ongoing IPL. The match is scheduled to be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Both sides are in dire need of a turnaround, having struggled for form in recent matches, making this contest a potential turning point in their campaigns. CSK are entering this match on the back of four consecutive defeats, a streak that has seen them slip dangerously in the standings.

Adding to their woes, they will be without their regular skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament due to injury. In his absence, veteran star MS Dhoni will step in to lead the side. A lot will depend on MS Dhoni as he will be under pressure to lift a side that’s been underperforming with both bat and ball.

Kolkata Knight Riders, too, are coming off a recent loss and find themselves facing similar issues to the CSK—an inconsistent batting order, lack of penetration in the bowling attack. Their performance has been a mixed bag this season, showing glimpses of brilliance but not being able to capitalise properly. Overall, it is incredibly paramount for both sides to reignite their campaigns.
