"It wasn't an easy decision": Harry Brook on withdrawing from IPL

Young England batter Harry Brook, who was recently named England’s white-ball captain, succeeding Jos Buttler, who quit after England's disappointing Champions Trophy campaign, has broken his silence on his decision to withdraw from the Indian Premier League. In IPL, Brook was due to represent Delhi Capitals, but days ahead of the start of the IPL, Brook pulled out of his IPL deal. As a result, he now faces a two-year ban from the league after new rules were put in place ahead of the IPL 2025.

“Having this period after deciding to pull out of the IPL was the right decision for me. It wasn't an easy decision, obviously, but I've got to try and manage my workload. I've played a hell of a lot of cricket over the last year and a half and it's only going to be more going forward," said Brook as quoted by the ICC.

“I'm not sure how much franchise cricket I'll be playing in the near future, but my priority is definitely playing for England and trying to play as much cricket for England as I can," he added.

Brook, who had been bought by Delhi Capitals for INR 6.5 crore, prioritised England cricket over IPL. Meanwhile, his first assignment as England skipper will be a home white-ball series against the West Indies. The series will have three ODIs and as many T20Is.
