Rohit, Suryakumar lead MI to blazing win over CSK

Mumbai Indians have revived their playoff hopes in spectacular fashion with a resounding nine-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede on Sunday. Chasing down a challenging total of 176, MI cruised to victory, powered by outstanding knocks from Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, whose aggressive innings left the CSK reeling.
In pursuit of 176, MI’s opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton set the side off to an outstanding start. But, after Rickelton’s (24) departure, Rohit and Suryakumar Yadav took the charge, putting on a masterclass in batting. Yadav the ever-reliable presence in the middle order, struck a swift 68* off 30, while Rohit followed suit with an equally powerful 76* off 45. Their destructive hitting dismantled CSK’s bowling attack, racing to the target with 26 balls to spare.
Earlier, sent to bat, CSK didn’t have a great start, with out of form Rachin Ravindra again flopping. However, Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube laid a solid foundation for the game with a fighting total of 176/5 in 20 overs. Both the players were in imperious form. Dube’s 50 runs were built on aggressive stroke play, while Jadeja’s 53* was a calculated knock backed by some powerful hitting.
