“We were short by 15-20 runs”: MS Dhoni

In a closely contested match, Chennai Super Kings were bowled out for 154 runs by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Later, despite a valiant effort by the bowlers, CSK couldn’t manage to pull off a win, losing by five wickets as SRH chased down the target in 18.4 overs. The defeat turned out to be their first-ever home defeat to SRH and their seventh of the tournament. Reacting to the defeat, CSK skipper MS Dhoni acknowledged the team's shortcomings, stating they were 15-20 runs short of a competitive total.
"I think we kept losing wickets, and another thing is I felt, in the first innings, the wicket was slightly better, and 155 (154) is not a justifiable score because it wasn't turning a lot. Yes, after the eighth, ninth, (or) tenth over, it became slightly two-paced when it comes to the fast bowlers. But nothing that was out of the ordinary. So I feel we could have run slightly better and put a few more runs on the board," Dhoni said at the post-match presentation.
"Yes, (in the) second innings, there was a bit of help. Our spinners, the quality is there. So they were bowling in the right areas, and they got a bit of bounce. It was stopping a bit, but yeah, we were short by 15-20 runs."
CSK are now sitting at the bottom of the points table with two victories out of nine games. They will next face Punjab Kings on Wednesday.
