Rahul Dravid underlines challenge for Vaibhav Suryavanshi

In a breathtaking display of audacity, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who is playing for Rajasthan Royals, has catapulted himself into the annals of Indian Premier League history. The promising youngster blazed a 35-ball century, the second-fastest in the history of IPL. Facing the Gujarat Titans’ bowlers with a fearless approach, Suryavanshi unleashed a barrage of boundaries, amassing 100 runs in just 35 deliveries. Following his skilful performance, Suryavanshi has been receiving huge attention, and Rajasthan Royals’ head coach Rahul Dravid feels that Vaibhav will have to make sure that limelight doesn’t impact him.

"I think it won't be possible to completely sort of avoid him from the experience that is around him. I can't control what people are talking about him. I have come to this interaction and all I have heard is questions about Vaibhav,” Dravid said as quoted by PTI.

"It is going to be challenging for him but it is exciting at the same time. I would love to say that we should not shower him with that much attention. Maybe I am being naive as that it is not going to happen. Recognising that it happens and putting a certain level of support around that and navigate that attention and allow him space to be a youngster. It is part of being a cricketer in this country, it is impossible to distance yourself from and (you tend to get) sucked into it.”

Vaibhav, who became the youngest player to score a hundred in men's T20s, was signed by Rajasthan Royals for 1.1 crore at last year’s action.
