In a high-octane clash, Royal Challengers Bengaluru edged out Chennai Super Kings by a narrow margin of two runs on Saturday in Bengaluru. With both teams displaying explosive batting performances, the match went down to the wire before RCB held their nerve to claim a hard-fought win.

Chasing 214, CSK looked up to the task thanks to a sensational start by young opener Ayush Mhatre. The young star blazed his way to 94 off just 48 balls, demolishing RCB’s bowling attack and raising hopes of a successful chase. Ravindra Jadeja anchored the innings with a classy 77* and kept the scoreboard ticking.

However, the momentum shifted dramatically when Mhatre was dismissed in the 17th over. Despite Jadeja’s presence at the crease, the remaining CSK batters failed to capitalise on the strong platform. Meanwhile, tight death bowling by RCB restricted CSK to 211/5 in 20 overs.

Earlier, asked to bat, RCB put up a commanding total of 213/5 in 20 overs. Their solid total was powered by a strong opening stand between Virat Kohli and Jacob Bethell, scoring 62 and 55, respectively. The real fireworks came late in the innings, courtesy of Romario Shepherd, whose blistering 53* off just 14 deliveries turned the tide and gave RCB a significant boost.
