Roston Chase has been appointed as the captain of the West Indies men's Test team. This appointment marks a massive moment in Chase’s career, as his debut as Test captain coincides with his 50th Test match. Having previously captained West Indies in one T20I and one ODI, allrounder Chase possesses requisite experience. Chase, who is set to succeed Kraig Brathwaite, last played a Test for West Indies more than two years ago.

Cricket West Indies stated that Chase had been appointed following a detailed assessment.

“Our new captain has earned the respect of his peers, understands the responsibility that comes with the role, and has shown the leadership qualities we need to take this team forward. I urge fans across the region to rally behind him — we're building something special,” WI head coach Daren Sammy said.
