Sanjay Manjrekar lambasts Ravindra Jadeja for poor show

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar was utterly blunt in his assessment of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s performance in the first Test against England, which India lost by five wickets on Tuesday in Leeds. Jadeja, being the most senior member of the team, couldn’t make any impact, claiming only one wicket in the game. India, meanwhile, were left helpless on day 5 after Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett gave England a scintillating start with a 188-run opening stand. England, in chase of 371, went over the line with five wickets in hand and an hour left to play after Joe Root knocked off 53 runs from 84 balls.
”Funnily enough, the pitch didn't offer any lateral movement to India's seam bowlers. Even Bumrah couldn't get anything out of the pitch. Nothing in the air as well. Plus, the fact that Ben Duckett is tremendous against Bumrah and has one of the best records against him and against Jadeja. I don't think he's got out to Jadeja ever, and he's played Jadeja at home as well. So when you have an English batter who is very good against two of your frontline bowlers, then you're set for a win," Manjrekar said on Star Sports.
Despite India remaining on top for most of the Test, they were unable to torment England batters on day 5, with every bowler fighting hard to put India back into dominance. However, the defeat will serve as a wake-up call for India as they look forward to returning strongly in the second game.
