India bounced back in emphatic fashion to level the five-match Test series 1-1 with a statement 336-run victory over England in the second Test at Edgbaston on Sunday. India’s dominant all-round performance saw them stamp their authority on the contest, crushing England boldly. Their victory was headlined by a monumental innings from Shubman Gill and a five-wicket haul from fast bowler Akash Deep.

Chasing a mountainous target of 608 runs, England were bundled out for 271, falling well short despite a courageous 88-run knock by young batter Jamie Smith. The English batting lineup, inspired by ‘Bazeball', struggled against India's potent pace attack led by Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep

India, on the other hand, laid the foundation for their victory with a massive total of 587 in the first innings after being put in to bat. Shubman Gill led the charge with a scintillating 269 — a career-best knock. Gill’s innings provided the backbone for India's formidable score.

In response, England fought hard with a total of 407 in their first innings. Harry Brook and Jamie Smith had provided valuable support to the side with their gut-wrenching knocks of 158 and 184*, respectively. However, India did not relent. They amassed 427 for 6 declared in their second innings, setting England a mountain of 608 runs to chase.
