“I don’t like the acting from Shubman Gill”: Jonathan Trott

The third day of the third Test between England and India on Saturday at Lord’s ended on a heightened note after India’s captain Shubman Gill and England opener Zak Crawley got into a fiery altercation. With play inching towards stumps, England needed just two overs to survive, but Zak Crawley employed deliberate delaying tactics. His tactic, however, worked with only six minutes left; England managed just one over before the day's close. Meanwhile, former England batsman Jonathan Trott criticised Gill, calling the confrontation reminiscent of a previous captain (possibly referring to Virat Kohli).

“We don’t know what went on when England were fielding, whether they were dishing it out. But I don’t like the acting from Shubman Gill, as a captain you set the tone. Pointing fingers and getting very confrontational , very much like a previous captain before getting in the face of the opposition,” Trott said on JioHotstar

"I am all for being competitive and being tough on the field, sometimes you have to rise above it. It sets up nicely for tomorrow’s play,” he added.

Earlier, the scores were tied at 387 each after India lost their lower-order batters in quick succession. But they were propelled by KL Rahul's century and half-centuries from Pant (74) and Ravindra Jadeja (72). England will head into day 4 with their overnight score of 2-0.
