“They obviously like the food here”: Ex-England cricketer’s funny jibe at team India

Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan has taken a pointed dig at team India, calling out a growing trend that has haunted the side during their ongoing five-match Test series — losing crucial wickets right before session breaks. His comment came in the aftermath of the third Test at Lord’s, where India succumbed to a 22-run defeat to go 1-2 down in the series. India failed to chase a target of 193, with top-order batters losing their wickets in quick succession. Meanwhile, in a candid remark, Vaughan jokingly said that Indian players like the food here at Lord’s.

“They obviously like the food here. The thing about the lunches is that they can have them if they’re obviously dismissed. That’s just (loss of) concentration. You’ve played enough cricket to understand that. The more you think about batting differently towards the end of a session, the more you’re probably going to get out. You’ve just got to naturally play. Just naturally play." Vaughan said While speaking with Dinesh Karthik on Cricbuzz.

India’s defeat in the second Test prompted Vaughan to highlight India’s inexperience.

“That’s just a mentality thing that this team has to get better at. I guess the inexperience of the group; They’re an inexperienced group.”

“Gill will be slightly concerned about that collapse, the first innings collapse down the back end, the little collapse last night and then another three quick wickets this morning. You don’t win many Test matches when you lose so many wickets in clusters. That’s something that India can’t afford in the last two games,” he said.
