England have declared their playing XI for the fourth Test of the five-match series against India, with just a solitary change from the team that featured in the third Test at Lord’s. The fourth Test is scheduled to begin on July 23 at Old Trafford. Left-arm spinner Liam Dawson has been drafted into the side in place of off-spinner Shoaib Bashir, who has been ruled out of the series.

Dawson makes his return to the side after eight years, having last played for the side in the longest format in 2017. England are 2-1 ahead in the five-match series, with the fourth match giving them a chance to claim the series. India, on the other hand, have an opportunity to roar back and level the series 2-2.

England playing XI: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Jamie Smith, Liam Dawson, Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer
