England’s young batter Harry Brook has lavished praise on Joe Root, England’s mainstay batter, calling him the ‘best Test batter of all time.’ Root became the No. 1 Test batter in the ICC Test batting rankings following his supportive knock in the third Test against India at Lord’s. Root scored a century in the first innings, guiding England to a good total. And he helped England clinch a 22-run win with a 40-run knock in the second innings.

"Everybody wants to be number one, don't they? Him (Root), probably more than anybody else. He's a phenomenal player, I'm not in the same league as him. I'll happily let him have it. He's played for 12-13 years. In my opinion, he is the best Test batter of all time. So, I'll let him have that,” Brook told reporters.

England are leading the series 2-1 after coming out victorious in the first and third Tests. Commenting on England’s strong show, Brook said England are happy with the way they have performed so far.

"Obviously, we're in a strong position. We're happy with the way the games have gone so far. They've been tense, they've been good to watch. We're looking forward to this week. Another different challenge, depending on the surface. But yeah, India are a very strong side. And hopefully we can go out there and beat them again."

However, Brook emphasised that India are a good side and can bounce back at any time.

"They can bounce back at any stage. We saw that after we beat them in Headingley, they came back and had excellent form at Edgbaston. We're going to go out there and do our thing."
