Rishabh Pant sidelined for six weeks with toe fracture: Reports
The Indian team has suffered a major setback as star player Rishabh Pant has reportedly been ruled out for six weeks following a toe injury picked up on day one of the ongoing fourth Test against England at Old Trafford. Pant retired hurt on day one of the fourth test when he was hit on the foot trying to reverse sweep Chris Woakes.
With Rishabh Pant being absent, team India will be left with ten players for the rest of the fourth Test. Dhruv Jurel will likely take up the wicketkeeping duties. According to The Indian Express, wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan will be added to the squad as a replacement for Pant.
“The scan report showed a fracture, and he is ruled out for six weeks. The medical team is trying to see if he can come out to bat again by taking a painkiller. He still needs support to walk, though, and the chances of his batting look very bleak," a BCCI source was quoted as saying by The Indian Express,
Ishan Kishan was last seen in action for India in November 2023, in a T20I against Australia. Meanwhile, he has so far played two test matches for India, scoring 78 runs, including a half-century.
