Harbhajan Singh slams Michael Vaughan after India's Oval win

As the hard-fought five-match Test series between India and England resulted in a draw, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh was the happiest man as he reminded former England captain Michael Vaughan how his prediction for the five-match series went wrong. Shubman Gill-led India decimated England in the fifth and final Test on Monday at The Oval, securing a six-run victory to level the series 2-2.

With India needing four wickets to achieve the victory, bowler Mohammed Siraj bowled his heart out, returning with three valuable wickets to bundle England out for 367 in their chase of 374. Prasidh Krishna also made a huge contribution alongside Siraj. India fought tooth and nail till the last moment to ensure the series was drawn. Harbhajan Singh, after India’s win, reminded former England cricketer how his prediction for England’s 3-1 series victory went wrong.

“I feel there is a big win hidden for India here. Yes, the scoreline shows 2-2. Michael Vaughan and many others predicted that it would be 3-1 or 3-0. I would tell them to look towards their side a bit and where England cricket stands. Our warriors have shown the level of Indian cricket,” Harbhajan said on his YouTube channel.

The Test series against England was also Shubman Gill’s first assignment since taking over the captaincy from Rohit Sharma, who retired from Test cricket earlier this year. Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh lauded the team’s performance on English soil.

“Unbelievable Test match and the way India have played the series, they deserve praise. When the team went to England, many people said it was young and there were no seniors. But see how the young team created history,” said Harbhajan.
