Varun Chakravarthy rises to top in men's T20I bowling rankings

India's mystery bowler Varun Chakravarthy has claimed the top spot in ICC men's T20I bowling rankings, dethroning New Zealand fast bowler Jacob Duffy who had been occupying the no.1 spot since March of this year. Chakravarthy's impressive performance against UAE and Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup has played a vital role in lifting him to the top.
Varun is the third Indian bowler to move to the top of the ICC T20I bowling rankings after Jasprit Bumrah and leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi. Chakravarthy returned with the figures of 1/4 in India's Asia Cup opener against the UAE. And, in the match against Pakistan he shone with 1/24 from four overs.
Other Indian spinners have also made gains, with Axar Patel moving one spot to 12th, while Kuldeep Yadav has moved 16 spots to get to 23rd. Even Pakistan's spinner Sufiyan Muqeem has jumped four spots to 11th, and Abrar Ahmed has jumped 11 places to the 16th spot. Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Tushara rocked up to sixth place, storming into the top ten.
