"The way they were coming at us without any reason, I didn't like it at all": Abhishek Sharma

The aggressive counter‑punching display by India’s opening pair, led by Sharma’s whirlwind 74 off 39 balls, powered India to a scintillating 6-wicket win over Pakistan on Sunday in Dubai. With six fours and five sixes, Abhishek didn’t simply chase down a total—he answered provocations. During the innings, Abhishek had a fiery exchange with Pakistan’s fast bowlers, especially Haris Rauf, which fired him up, causing him to smack Pakistan bowlers all over the ground.
"Today, it was pretty simple. The way they were coming at us without any reason, I didn't like it at all. And I thought that this is the only reason that I could give with my bat and obviously with the win towards my team. That's all that was going through my mind. I just wanted to deliver for my team," Abhishek said during the post-match presentation.
Putting Pakistan’s target of 172 to the test, Sharma’s assault with Gill (47 off 28) was the backbone of India's fruitful win. Together, they put on a 105‑run opening stand, setting up India for a relatively comfortable chase despite losing wickets on occasions. Another major sign of how strained things are was no handshakes at the toss or after the match.
"Of course, we've been playing since our school days, so we enjoy each other's company really well. And the way we started, I thought that we're going to do this in one of the games, and that's how we're going to start our partnerships."
"And luckily it was today, and I feel the way he was giving them back; I really enjoyed it on the other side."
