Pakistan thrash Bangladesh by 11 runs, set up Pakistan vs India Asia Cup Final

In a mouth-watering showdown on Thursday in Dubai, Pakistan edged past Bangladesh by 11 runs to secure a place in the Asia Cup 2025 final, where they will face arch-rivals India on Sunday at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. Pakistan saw incredible performances from Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and young opener Saim Ayub, who combined to demolish Bangladesh's hopes and steer Pakistan into the final.
Asked to bat, Pakistan’s batting lineup faltered yet again, managing just 135/8 in 20 overs. Their innings never quite took off. Openers failed to provide a solid start, and wickets fell at regular intervals. Mohammad Haris (31) and Mohammad Nawaz (25) offered some resistance in the middle overs, helping Pakistan limp past the 130-run mark. However, an inspired bowling performance led by Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Saim Ayub turned the tide in Pakistan’s favour.
Defending the modest total, Pakistan came out firing with the ball. Shaheen Afridi struck twice in the powerplay to jolt Bangladesh’s top order. His early breakthroughs brought Pakistan right back into the contest. As the pressure mounted on Bangladesh, Haris Rauf turned up the heat with a fiery spell, picking up three key wickets and breaking the back of the run chase. Youngster Saim Ayub also chipped in with the ball, claiming two crucial wickets to dent Bangladesh’s lower order. Bangladesh, who had bowled well to restrict Pakistan, couldn’t replicate the same performance with the bat, exiting the tournament with huge disappointment.
