Babar Azam on Nasem Shah's injury
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has hinted that their intense bowler Naseem Shah will be registering his absence in the first few matches of the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. World Cup will be getting underway in India from October 15. Naseem Shah picked up injury during Pakistan’s Super Four match against India in Colombo. Haris Rauf, too had sustained minor injury during the match but he appears to be fit ahead of the World Cup. Babar Azam was asked about Pakistan’s back up plan in case if players fail to make it to action.
“I’ll tell you later. Not telling you our plan B now. But yes, Haris Rauf is not bad. He’s just got a little bit of a side strain, but he’s recovering before the World Cup. Naseem Shah also…they have a couple of miss matches, I don’t know (how long) the recovery but in my opinion, Naseem Shah also (will be) in the World Cup later on. But let’s see,” said Babar during the post-match presentation.
Pakistan, on Thursday, failed to make it to the final of the ongoing Asia Cup as they were handed 2-wicket defeat by Sri Lanka in the thrilling contest. Pakistan didn’t receive the service of their top players like Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam who failed to score. Their bowling also remained insignificant that gave advantage to Sri lanka batters to chase down 252-run total.
