Matthew Short named Adelaide Strikers’ skipper

Adelaide Strikers have named Matthew Short their new skipper as the 13th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-24 is just few hours away from its start. Matt Short had returned as the player of the tournament during the last season. Matthew Short has taken over the captaincy role from Travis Head who had led the side in the previous season. Adelaide Strikers will take on Brisbane Heat in their first match of the tournament on Saturday at the Adelaide Oval. During the last season, Adelaide Strikers had finished at the second from the bottom with five wins out of their fourteen matches. 

“Matt was a standout choice to take on the captaincy at the Adelaide Strikers and we are thrilled to announce him as our sixth captain. When he stepped up last year we were very impressed with his leadership and we are looking forward to seeing him grow further into the role,” Strikers head coach Jason Gillespie said

“I really enjoyed the little taste of captaincy I got last season and I’m excited to put my full attention to it in BBL13,” Matthew Short said.
