Gautam Gambhir speaks on Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq altercation

The altercation between Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and Afghanistan player Naveen-ul-Haq during the last edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) had garnered a lot attention. The fiery argument between both the players started during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giatns which escalated further resulting in a bigger spat. The altercation that started during the game continued after the match as well with LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir being in a heated exchange of words with RCB batter Virat Kohli. Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli had a fierce exchange of words that gripped headlines. Recently, Gautam Gambhir was asked about the entire saga where he talked about the dispute.
“As a mentor, no one can come and walk over my players. I have got a very different belief. Till the time the game was on, I had no right to interfere; but once the game was over, if someone still gets into a heated argument with my players, I have all the right to defend them,” said Gambhir on the ANI podcast.
Recently, during the World Cup, Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq had made peace by letting the bygones be bygones. During India’s World Cup game against Afghanistan, both players had embraced each other while shaking hands in the middle of the game.
