Ben Stokes opens up about the camaraderie between MS Dhoni and Stephen Fleming at CSK
Chennai Super Kings’ incumbent skipper MS Dhoni has been the mainstay for team’s monumental success they have accomplished so far. Dhoni with his priceless leadership skills has taken the team to new heights. Chennai Super Kings under MS Dhoni have flourished with noteworthy outcomes over the past years.
CSK’s head coach Stephen Fleming too has played a great role in team’s success while having a great camaraderie with MS Dhoni.
England’s Test skipper Ben Stokes, who was with CSK during the last edition of the tournament, opened up about the mutual spirit both MS Dhoni and Stephen Fleming share. Chennai Super Kings beat Gujarat Titans in the last edition of the tournament to record their fifth title win in the IPL.
Ben Stokes, who was bought by the franchise for Rs 16.25 crore last year, featured only in two games due to fitness setbacks. Stokes saw the entire tournament sitting in the dugout. Currently, England, led by Ben Stokes are in India for the five-match Test series wherein they’ve already won the first game.
“You say we ended up winning, that’s how I got the TFC Award, the ‘Thanks For Coming’ award. Obviously, it didn’t quite go how I wanted it to with the injury and stuff like that. But just being part of an unbelievable franchise like Chennai. I’ve worked with Fleming and MS before when I was playing in Pune. I think how MS and Fleming complemented each other was something to behold. The trust that they have in the decisions they make, one as a coach and one as a captain. MS has the emotion of being out in the game, whereas sometimes when you’re sitting on the sideline, you don’t have that emotion,” Ben Stokes told JioCinema.
"I think they both have an incredible understanding of that. But one thing me and Baz always try to do, and what MS and Flem do is whatever decision they make around selection or whatever decision they have to make very quickly, it’s always based around what’s best for the team. That’s something me and Baz always try and live by when we make decisions,” he said.
